We recently dined at Catch Miami and had a memorable experience, with a few notable highlights and some room for improvement.

Ambiance and Decor

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a rich, modern aesthetic combined with a touch of jungle flair that we loved. The ambiance is truly a total vibe, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or date night.

Bar Experience

When we checked in with the host, we were asked to wait at the bar while our table was being set. Normally, I’m not a fan of waiting at the bar, but in this case, I didn’t mind at all.

The bar is gorgeous, and the bartenders were incredibly nice, especially Victoria. She made a delicious “Salt n Pepper” and “Kali” cocktail. However, just as Victoria started making our drinks, a hostess came to take us to our table. I asked her to please wait as I wanted to tip the bartender for her excellent service, but the hostess gave me some attitude. This was disappointing, as I felt it was important to show appreciation for the bartender’s efforts; since they were the ones who shifted us to order a drink.

Dining Experience

Sitting in Catch Miami dining area

Once seated, we relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance before ordering our appetizers. Catch requires you to order all your food at once, and they pace out the courses throughout the evening. However, the most annoying part of the night was being told at 7:45 PM that they were out of the fried snapper, which was our first choice. This information should have been provided when we sat down, not after we had decided on our order. This setback required us to take more time to figure out a new choice.

Food

For appetizers, we had the cauliflower with vegan spicy mayo, which tasted delicious and reminded me of bang bang shrimp. For our main course, we split the branzino with a side of the sherry glaze brussels sprouts. Although the branzino wasn’t our first choice, it was very flavorful and juicy. For dessert, we had the iconic Hit Me dessert, and we also received an extra free dessert—a strawberry shortcake shaved ice—thanks to a gentleman at the next table advocating for us due to the snapper issue.

While the gesture was “sweet”, I would have preferred a complimentary glass of wine or for the restaurant to take care of our Hit Me instead. The strawberry shortcake shaved ice wasn’t appealing, and even a young girl at the next table didn’t enjoy it.

Overall Impression

Overall, Catch was really delicious, and I can see it becoming a usual spot for dinner. However, there are a few kinks that the restaurant needs to work out, such as better communication about menu availability and a more accommodating attitude from the staff. Despite these issues, the music was great, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
