Whether you seek relaxation, adventure, or a taste of the Mediterranean good life, Hvar delivers an unforgettable experience. This Croatian island is not just a destination; it’s a journey to another life.
Beach Club Hvar:
How to get there and what we used to book our stay.
After much back and forth, flights were finally booked using Expedia.com for around $2,000 per person (ouch.) I am not a fan of Expedia; however, it was the best deal we could find at the time. Needless to say, coming from Miami, it took us what felt like 24 hours before we arrived in Hvar. We flew Miami to London then London to Split. Once you arrive at Split International Airport you must take a one hour cab ride to the port before you board the one hour ferry to finally arrive in Old Town Hvar. So, exhausting… but omg well worth the trip. Keep reading!
The Resort
We stayed in the idealic Amfora Grand Beach Resort. The resort was gorgeous with it’s ocean scenic views in this Adriatic retreat. Before I booked our 8 night reservation at the Amfora Resort I contacted concierge via their website to arrange a pick-up and drop-off from and to the Split International airport. This made our lives so much easier. It is stressful enough getting there, so having a transportation arrangement in advance made all the difference. The resort offered a tasty buffet breakfast (except the coffee) every morning and daily maid service. Unfortunately, our room was right next to the maid station so every day like clockwork they were prepping their carts at 7 AM. For me, the selling point of the Amfora Resort was the pool area. The pool space is so large you never feel overcrowded with a bar you came right swim up too. The thought of never leaving the pool for a cocktail was glorious to us! At the drop of a hat, concierge will schedule taxi and boat rides whenever you want to pop into town or take a small captained boat to a Pakleni island. And not to mention, the Amfora Resort is only a 15 minute walk down the cobble stone pathway into Old Town Hvar.
Food, food, and more food.
I never imagined I would have the best pizza and pasta in Hvar (and I’ve been to Italy!) Disclaimer: My research on restaurants is extensive before I arrive to any destination. The quality of food in Hvar is like no other. Everything smells fresh and food taste how God intended it to be. Hvar had cute bars and lounges, but we stuck to our rose all day mantra. If you like Whispering Angel, try the local wine Galić. Here are a list of restaurants, in no particular order, we tried and loved during our stay.
- Mediterraneo (came here twice!)
- Kogo
- Dalmatino
- Langanini Lounge
- Bunar (delicious, but don’t late. Manager was mad even though there was plenty of seating)
- Black Pepper
- Mamato Bar
- Kava 37 (yummy coffee and crossiants)
Let’s go to the beach, beach
If you like traveling on your own time and moving at the pace that works for you, then I highly recommend renting a car during your stay. Be sure to do a bit of research regarding restaurants near or on these beaches.
Some of the beaches we visited and loved were:
- Pokonji Dol Beach
- Mamato Beach
- Carpe Diem
- Palmizana
